Final post

The main concept of Biology 11 that I've learned is that thing can change over time. It was shown when we  learned about the evolution and about natural selection, animals and plants. Organisms in a population will survive by protecting themselves form others so they wold reproduce and they'd pass on their genes, so that the next generation can live on. Change occurs everywhere even the smallest organism, for example bacteria.

Biology11 wasn't quite easy. I would have studies more the tests and quizzes. The Micro biology test was my weakest  section. I could've asked more question, if I didn't understand something.

The most interesting part of Biology11 was the dissection of the squid, star fish, frog, worm, grasshopper, and the rat. It gave me a chance to understand the differences of all the functions of the animals, like what is the purpose of their organs that allow them to survive and adapt to their environment. The other interesting and fun part was the aquarium.  It was such a great experience to be in the wet lab to physically touch those marine animals and the different phyla that we've been learning about.
So overall Biology 11 was a great way to increase my knowledge about the living things that live around us, which we should pay attention to once in a while.

Aquarium Field trip

Phyla name: Moon Jellyfish (Aurelia Aurita)
Class: Scyphozoa
Phylum: Cnidaria
I found them very interesting because they glowed.
What make the moon jellyfish similar to other jellies is that they don't have a respiratory system it respires by diffusing oxygen from water through the thin membrane covering its body, they also have stinging tentacles.

Arthropods

 Arthropods:  Mygalmorphae popular name tarantulas
Class: Arachnida
  • Mygalmorphae have very, and powerful fangs
  • Venomous glands that lie entirely within their chelicerae.
  • They have two pairs of book lungs and downward pointing chelicerae.

Squid labeled

What I found interesting about the squid is that they have an inner shell and we used it like a pen we put it into the ink sack amd wrote on paper.
The gills were also pretty neat to see when you put them in water you they were fanned out.

How do they fit in the world?
They serve  for biological research.
Some current investigation are based on the observation that snails and other mollsuk.
